Carmen, WD 31 Habanera
The story of "Carmen", composed by Bizet, is adapted from the work of the French Realism author Prosper Mérimée of the same name. This song is the aria sung by Carmen when she just appears in the first act. Facing a group of soldiers observing her, she only admires Don José who is concentrated on cleaning his gun. Therefore, she flirts with her luminous eyes, dances the Habanera with her body, and sings, "Love is a rebellious bird...If you love me not, then I love you. But if I love you, take guard yourself."
