Egmont, Op. 84 Overture

This is the overture and the incidental music that Beethoven composed for the Goethe's drama of the same name. It is formed by the overture and nine individual movements for the soprano and the orchestra. The theme is about the history and the heroism of Count of Egmont. Beethoven expresses his personal political thoughts through this music, especially his admiration for an executed hero who strongly fights againt the repression.
