Edvard Grieg (15 June 1843 – 4 September 1907) was a Norwegian composer and pianist. He is widely considered one of the leading Romantic era composers, and his music is part of the standard classical repertoire worldwide. His use and development of Norwegian folk music in his own compositions put the music of Norway in the international spectrum, as well as helping develop a national identity, much like Jean Sibelius and Antonín Dvořák did in Finland and Bohemia respectively. The Peer Gynt Suite, composed by Norwegian composer Grieg in 1875, is the two set of symphonies for Henrik Ibsen's poetic drama of the same name. There were 23 movements in the Peer Gynt Suite originally. Between 1888 and 1891, Grieg selected eight movements to form two suites with four movements each nowadays. The 4th song of the 1st suite, In the Hall of the Mountain King, describes the terrifying mood of the hall.
